Larco Museum
It is one of the most important museums in the country, located in the Lima district of Pueblo Libre, founded by archaeologist Rafael Larco Hoyle in 1926. Housed in an 18th-century colonial mansion, the museum houses an outstanding collection of pre-Columbian art from various cultures, such as Moche, Nazca, Chimu, and Inca.
In addition to its conventional exhibits, the Larco Museum is known for its extensive collection of pre-Columbian erotic art, displayed in the "Gallery of Erotic Ceramics". This unique aspect has contributed to the museum's international reputation.
Museo Larco is ranked among the top twenty-five museums worldwide.
Huaca Pucllana and museum
It is an archaeological site located in Miraflores, Lima. It dates back to the Lima culture, between 200 and 700 AD. It stands out for its adobe architecture, especially a large, stepped pyramid. It functioned as a ceremonial and administrative center. In addition, it has been suggested that it was also used for agricultural activities and food storage. The site has a museum that exhibits objects found during archaeological excavations, providing information about the Lima culture. Today, Huaca Pucllana is accessible to the public, offering a window into the pre-Inca history of the region of Lima.
